Yaho~ It's Oganeki!
It's been so long! How's everyone doing?
Me? I'm fine, but I've been pulling my classic slacking-off move on the blog, saying "I'll write eventually~" and before I knew it, a whole year flew by! Gyahaha☆
While I was slacking off like that, the boss finally hit me with, "How about that blog post soon?"☆
He was smiling, but that was definitely "silent pressure." I took the hint and now I'm back♪
So anyway, today I'm going to keep pounding on the keyboard while maintaining peace in the company!
I Want to Remote Work Somewhere Other Than Home
In my last blog post... though I'm sure it's long forgotten by now, I mentioned I work fully remotely, but I'm still doing it at home as always! Hilarious, right? www
But lately I've been getting a bit bored of it.
So recently I planned to go into the office for the first time in a while, but the moment I set the date, I got COVID! Coughing wouldn't stop, the boss got mad, I'm seriously cursed...
During that isolation period, a thought suddenly hit me: Could I work remotely from my car?
First, I Asked AI What Gear Is Needed for In-Car Remote Work☆
If I just jump into the car on a whim, it'll instantly turn into a joyride, so I asked AI what equipment is actually needed to get real work done.
Besides, if I'm gonna buy gear, it gives me excuses when submitting expense reports to the boss~♪
① Folding Table
If you're opening a laptop in the car, you need this first. Apparently there are types that attach to the steering wheel or mini desks for the back seat.
Without this, typing on your lap = instant death!
Looks convenient, but will this actually be approved as an expense? Will the boss be stingy or pay up?
The second he says "Your lap is enough, isn't it?", my hopes are crushed (/ _ ; )
② Portable Power Station
Without this, you're legitimately screwed.
PC, smartphone, Wi-Fi—dead batteries on all of them = just a random drive www
Supposedly a high-capacity one lets you work normally for half a day. Hey, this is essential! But seeing the price tag will probably make the boss's eyebrow twitch.
If he says "Just charge your stuff at home," the in-car remote work project dies right then and there (/ _ ; )
③ Mobile Wi-Fi / Tethering Setup
Without internet, in-car remote work is just solo confinement lol
This is literally a work tool, right? Surely this counts as an allowable expense, yeah?
If he starts saying "You can use that for personal stuff too, right?", it's war (/ _ ; )
④ Cushion / Seat Pad
Sitting in a car seat for long hours straight up destroys your lower back lol
Just having a cushion makes a night-and-day difference in comfort. Your back is your main asset, hello?? If he cheapens out here, my lifespan is literally shrinking??
Yeah yeah, I hear you~ Hey boss, your inner thoughts are leaking out~~~~
"A total old hag who wasn't even born in early Heisei—that's why your back hurts, right?" That's what you're thinking, right? I know, I know.
"Stop trying to act young"? It's a persona, okay, a persona! I know I'm not young anymore either (/ _ ; )
⑤ Sunshade
Inside a car in summer = literal inferno! Both PC and human melt. Just blocking the sun makes a huge difference in work efficiency.
This one is cheap, so there's actually a chance it gets expensed!
If I say "It's a sunshade," even the boss might soften up for a second.
Well, it's winter right now though! (´∀`*)
And so, that's Oganeki's in-car remote work plan (still purely hypothetical)☆
Now all that's left is the hardest mission of all: whether the boss will approve all of it as expenses. What do you say, boss?
Honestly, there's a high chance this will just end as a fantasy and I'll go, "Since I can't expense it, I'll just go to a coworking space after all," but if someone reading this actually tries it out, I'm totally fine with that♪
Step over my dead body, everyone, and build yourself a comfortable mobile corporate-slave base☆
