Hi, Hiracchi here!
Valentine's Day on 2/14 is right around the corner.
By the way, apparently it's also Fundoshi (loincloth) Day! They say it's a wordplay thing.
Why is February 14th 'Fundoshi Day'?
1 (Hii)2 (Fuu)3 (Mii)...10 (Tou) 4 (Shi)...Since it can be read as a pun like this, February 14th (2 = fun, 14 = doshi) was designated as 'Fundoshi Day.'
It just happened to fall on the same day as Valentine's Day. (*We call this the 'Miracle of Fundoshi.')
Generally speaking, February 14th is 'the day to give chocolate to the man you love,' but the Japan Fundoshi Association wants to spread the idea of [a day to give a fundoshi to the person you love].

Giving someone a fundoshi out of nowhere on Valentine's Day would be pretty crazy, wouldn't it? The recipient would definitely be shocked...
Anyway,
Do you guys usually give or get chocolates every year?
I used to buy variety packs of chocolates as treats for the office, but the boss would hoard them and eat them all himself TT
You know, those big variety bags of chocolate!
If you aren't careful, you'll miss out on the snack souvenirs brought by the staff too!
Geez, even though he says he's on a diet, he still snacks on sweets...
This thing sitting on the table as a snack at a year-end party once was actually really delicious!
Chocolate goes so well with alcohol, doesn't it? As expected from the bunch of drinkers at Revelogic, they really get it.
Lately, buying slightly fancy chocolates as 'treat-yourself chocolates' seems to be a trend.
I'd love to try those high-end pralines from specialty chocolate shops that cost several hundred yen apiece~
Though I probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference in taste, honestly.
Yeah, yeah, fancy ones like these!
I guess the classics are Godiva or Pierre Marcolini?
You can even buy them on Amazon nowadays. But is it just me who thinks it's nice to pick them out in a real store?
I used to make handmade chocolates back in the day too.
Looking back through my camera roll... Oh look, I was making brownies in 2020!
When I brought some as a gift to a spot I frequent, Toshiko (who is gay) said, 'Ugh, this tastes terrible~!'
Maybe it was just a joke, but it hurt a little bit... lol
Well, what I'm trying to say is that chocolate is delicious whether you buy it, receive it, or make it yourself.
My personal favorite is LOTTE chocolate with alcohol inside.
Do you have any Valentine's Day stories or favorite chocolates?
Or if there's any absolute legend out there who has actually gifted a fundoshi, I'd love to hear your story!
