Hey everyone, Hiratch here.
It's so hot every day... Feels like it gets hotter and more dangerous every year.
How's everyone holding up against the summer fatigue? Don't just stick to drinking cold beer, alright?
Even when it's this hot, don't you somehow find yourself wanting spicy food in the summer?
The other day, I got tempted by a super-spicy fair at the convenience store and bought a "Super Spicy Minced Pork Rice Ball."
I'm not usually huge on super spicy stuff, just average tolerance, really.
When I ate it, it was spicy and delicious, but I ended up getting a nosebleed. Not sure if the extreme spiciness had anything to do with it, though.
Our CEO, on the other hand, is a massive spicy food lover!!!
He keeps a spice collection right here in the office at all times!
Even just the packaging looks terrifying 😂⚠️
As for why we crave spicy food in the summer...
1. Body Temperature Regulation Through Sweating
A compound called capsaicin found in spicy foods raises body temperature.
Capsaicin triggers a warm sensation, which encourages sweating 🌶️
Sweating is the body's cooling mechanism; as sweat evaporates, it draws heat away from the body, lowering your core temperature.
In other words, eating spicy food temporarily raises your temperature, but subsequent sweating cools you down, helping you feel refreshed.2. Stimulating Appetite
Your appetite tends to drop during hot weather. However, spicy food works to stimulate your appetite.
Capsaicin stimulates the stomach lining and promotes the secretion of digestive fluids, boosting your appetite 🤤
So they say.
Turns out it actually makes total sense.
Here are some super spicy snacks recommended by our CEO!
A must-have with drinks! Karupas (dry sausage stick)
Less of a snack and more straight-up chili pepper chips
Now I'm suddenly getting a huge craving for something spicy.
Sprinkling super spicy chili on lunch would definitely blow away afternoon drowsiness and boost productivity!!!
